Job Title – Employer Liaison/Mentor 

Classification: Non-Exempt 

Position Description 

  • To provide ongoing support and assistance to individuals selected for the United Way of Capitol Region’s “Road to Success” program and assist in all efforts related to gaining and/or retaining employment to secure family sustaining wages and advancement in a career pathway
  • Due to the diversity of individual work locations and collaborating agencies, this position necessitates the Mentor to be mobile and comfortable working in many environments and work locations
  • This position requires an organized individual who can efficiently operate several responsibilities simultaneously and has a strong knowledge of the local community resources

Essential Functions

  • Provide consistent and comprehensive communication with the United Way and the employers
  • Build a professional one-on-one working relationship with participants to aid in continued employment and growth in a career pathway designed to achieve self-sufficiency
  • Evaluate and make recommendations in the determination of eligibility
  • Ensure referrals are made by case management agencies to appropriate community service or social service agencies when needed
  • Assist in the preparation of project reports as needed (participation, placement, etc.)
  • Ensure participants follow through with planned activities as outlined in contract with funding agency
  • Accurately complete required documentation
  • Offer praise and motivation for successes and completion of milestones to encourage development and growth
  • Oversee participant engagement with the program and activities
  • Provide individualized assessment of work
  • Maintain organized database of clients and keep detailed documentation for individual files
  • Coordinate participant retention services and accommodate participant work schedules
  • Document all participant contacts and activities in case notes and ensure that post-placement contacts are made as required by specific contract
  • Share information with appropriate staff and/or funding agencies. Maintain participant files as specified by contractor.
  • Help ensure that positive outcomes and goals are met as required by contract

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and document visits and contacts
  • Demonstrated telephone, computer and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain flexibility as needs of contract or contractor require
  • College Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Case Management experience required
  • A working knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to be mobile in the community
