Carlisle, PA – To highlight the Wolf Administration’s education and job training initiatives, Department of Labor & Industry (L&I) Deputy Secretary for Workforce Development Eileen Cipriani recently met with local workers and representatives from Vitro Architectural Glass (PPG) and ProLogistics Staffing Solutions Inc. to discuss the hiring of in-demand workers during a tour of the PA CareerLink® in Carlisle.
“Workers are finding good jobs and businesses are hiring talented employees through their local PA CareerLink® offices,” said Cipriani. “It’s great to hear directly from companies and individuals about the successes they’ve experienced using these services. I encourage individuals and businesses to take advantage of the free services offered by PA CareerLink®offices across Pennsylvania.”
Governor Wolf wants Pennsylvania to have the strongest workforce in the nation. The governor’s innovative PAsmart program is investing in high growth careers with $20 million for science and technology education, $10 million for apprenticeships and job training, and new this year, an additional $10 million for career and technical education.
Cipriani toured the PA CareerLink® Cumberland County office and met with representatives from PPG and ProLogistics Staffing Solutions Inc., who use the PA CareerLink® system, customers who have obtained jobs through CareerLink®, and CareerLink® staff. PA CareerLink® has a customer-centered approach that helps prepare job seekers to meet the needs of a 21st-century economy, and matches employers with qualified and skilled candidates. Last year, L&I announced a series of improvements to the PA CareerLink® system, including the pacareerlink.pa.gov website.
PPG has a strong relationship with the PA CareerLink® in Carlisle and frequently uses its services for staffing needs. They have also had success with the On-the-Job Training (OJT) program and have placed several employees using the program within the past two years.
The company is currently hiring and participates in PA CareerLink® Cumberland County job fairs and recruitment events.
ProLogistics Staffing Solutions Inc. is an employee recruitment agency that has shared office space within PA CareerLink®Cumberland County for the past 18 months. The company, which routinely holds forklift certification classes, organizes recruitment events and participates in PA CareerLink® job fairs. They are currently hiring, seeking employees to work as forklift operators, pickers/packers, warehouse associates, and are seeking candidates for inventory control and supervisor positions in central Pennsylvania.
