SCPa Works is excited to partner on two projects that explore new opportunities to advance skills in our region.

SCPa Works was recently awarded nearly $550,000 for two Strategic Innovation Grants through the PA Department of Labor & Industry to invest in career pathways and pipeline development for the region’s workforce.

A $252,000 grant was awarded to provide elementary, middle, and high school students enhanced opportunities for exposure and exploration of aquaponics and other agriculture technology as part of the West Shore School District’s Science, Technology, Education and Math (STEM) program.

A $295,000 grant was awarded to expand the region’s pipeline of workers for the healthcare industry sector and improve the overall quality of care at long-term care facilities through pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, and other similar work-based learning experiences. SCPa Works will be partnering with SEIU Healthcare Training and Education Fund for this project.

“SCPa Works is committed to investing in and evaluating the most effective and innovative initiatives to build a stronger regional workforce,” said CEO Jesse McCree. “STEM occupations and the healthcare sector are growing significantly in South Central PA, and we are excited about launching these projects with our partners and scaling these investments across our region.”
