New System, New Operator for PA CareerLink sites
The South Central PA Works’ Board of Directors has awarded the contract for PA CareerLink operations to the South Central Partners in Regional Economic Performance (PREP) group. PREP is a collection of economic development agencies that represent the south central region of the state.
As the one-stop operator, PREP will coordinate the service delivery of partners and service providers based in the PA CareerLink locations. Our six PA CareerLink centers host up to 16 (sixteen) mandated service providers, including Title I services, adult education providers, and services to individuals with disabilities. Those providers operate separately with unique guidelines and instruction from their management. Implementation of the Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA) requires strategic coordination of the programs and providers from the Employment Training Administration to Health and Human Services.
SCPa Works’ selection of PREP as the operator presents a critical, strategic shift in oversight of the workforce system. This decision helps closely align the workforce development system with local economic development priorities driven by employer needs. South Central PA Works strives to build a stronger public workforce system in an environment where resources are at a premium.
